I recently purchased a 300ZX TT 5-speed upgraded turbos, injectors etc...
The car was purchased and shipped up here from Florida last year by my friend. He was told the previous owners father had passed away and the car wouldnt start because of a bad battery. He was too trusting.... When he put a battery in the cars brake lights were stuck on and the car would not start. The after market alarm would not disarm. After the car sat at a shop for a month and no progress he was ready to move it on. He could have paid me to fix it but instead offered the car to me. I really didn't need another Z but what the heck why not make some money. The brake lights were on because the switch was not making contact with the plastic pieces on the petals to shut them off. They are actually missing haha... The next issue took a while to figure out. I was able to get the alarm into valet mode by finding the model and documentation but still no ignition. I decided to remove the alarm and narrow my search. The ignition switch tested at the column and down to the starter relay. I took a spare relay off of my shell and still no luck. So I was puzzled at this point. Does anyone know what was wrong yet??? This was funny to me once it was figured out. At the top i noted it was a 5speed, why would it have a starter relay. So then the bright light turned on. The story my friend was told must have been BS! The car looks like someone took the time to put it back together even did a 5speed swap. But it seems as though they were not thorough enough or just didnt know how to complete the 5speed swap. After we connected the black/white and black/yellow wire we have ignition. We did have to drain the gas because it smelt terrible. But today I drove it home from the my storage and will continue to go through everything on the car. The picture below is all 4 of my Z's my poor black one is getting moved back to storage until I can make room.
